Thick 'n Thin: Understanding Teen Depression

This is a clip from a short film that highlights a period in the life of Katie Morris, a middle school student, who spirals downward into depression and begins thinking of suicide. Her friend, Jamal, relates the story of Katie's struggle with depression. When Jamal finally recognizes the symptoms of depression and seeks help for her, he jeopardizes the bonds of their friendship. Confused and sometimes offended by her behavior as she becomes more depressed, he continues to stand by her, eventually saving her life when she is contemplating suicide and needs the support of a friend the most. This short film was created by Mental Health America of Summit County Ohio and is used with the Red Flags Program across the United States.
