Positive human touch, from the beginning, enhanced by nursing, and use of a "Lamby", (sheepskin baby comforter). Theory discussed here: La Leche League; and Touching: The Human Significance of the Skin, a book by by Ashley Montagu.Best wishes!

I think that a child would grow to understand that their home is a safe environment, if these steps were followed, and they would learn about the non-sugarcoated side of the world from life experiences outside of the home.

The environment we create in our homes is not always similiar to the environment our children are subjected to on a daily basis. It is important to communicate with your children as suggested, and we need to be extremely conscious of how we are preparing our children to deal with life outside the home. We need to make them aware that they will encounter people who may not be as understanding or flat out just do not care. Good comment arev1977 and great video.

This seems artificial.....I mean great stuff theoretically but not very doable in real life.Being positive is great but kids need to learn that life is not always rosy and not everyone will be nice to them and not everyone will be "Listening to their feelings". They need to deal with tough stuff.....need to learn that sometimes you have to do that homework no matter what...to find solutions to situations....

Well the piece of advice would be that you have a chance to make this world better place to live and you have to watch your actions like what you do because your kid would follow it. As I always say "Kids don't listen to what you say but what you do".

Well, I am a single parent and I do feel the pressure as David mentioned.
